Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Amy Rosechandler, MS, LMHC

My commitment as a therapist is simply to help solve problems in a way that makes you feel stronger. Some of my strengths as a therapist shine through in providing hope, healing, joy and meaning during times of suffering.

Being a counselor is something I feel ‘born to do’ but my training, experience and formal education have helped shape me into the professional I am today. I feel grateful to be part of a profession where I can help people feel heard, validated and respected for their true worth.

I am licensed by New York State as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I graduated from the Warner School of Counseling and Human Development with a Masters in Community Health Counseling at the University of Rochester. I have held positions at Strong Hospital, Unity Hospital, and Rochester Institute of Technology.

I am a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA). I have specialty training in group therapy and am a Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP).

I am accepting new clients and would welcome an initial phone call to discuss your goals. I provide a free 20 minute phone consultation so we can both take time to know more about whether I will be a good fit, and to define a potential treatment plan.

My Approach

Counseling can be a very productive way to work through problems, gain insight into solutions or find a way to personal potential.

I welcome your interest in taking a step toward counseling. I am honored to have worked collaboratively with many people over the years who trusted me to help them. Clients often tell me feeling truly cared for, heard and understood are some of the most healing aspects of treatment I provide. I practice an eclectic approach to therapy and have experience working with a range of different people who are up against different kinds of problems.

I use different approaches to therapy based on your needs. Some of my areas of specialized training include Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy. I will use therapy practices that are based on scientific evidence to guide our collaborative plan for your care.

I take great care to honor the culture and diversity of every individual. I can't wait to hear more about the unique strengths, knowledge and resources you will bring to our sessions. Our sessions will be confidential, private and flexible to your needs.
